The core members of American Eyes met while in high school in Agoura Hills, California. Among the student body were members of bands such as Hoobastank, Linkin Park and Incubus, which made for a healthy, competitive environment. From the start, the members of American Eyes worked to set themselves apart from their peers, in looks, sound and attitude. It didn't take long before the band developed a reputation for their wild live shows which both hurt and helped them. Although a few venues stopped booking the band, the inventive quintet found other, non-traditional venues in which to play. It was at one such venue where the band was spotted by someone from SideOne Dummy. The scout was invited to a rehearsal and signed the band shortly thereafter. In 2004, American Eyes released their six-song debut EP for SideOne Dummy entitled, Never Trust Anything That Bleeds. |
