Very Italian classical vocalist who broke into the industry with Pavarotti's stamp of approval and with some serious industry funding. Traditional music of the Tuscany region played a large part in Bocelli's musical development, yet since the early days, he's been expanding the classical listening audience by infusing light pop elements into his recordings, such as electronic keyboard orchestration and subtle drumming à la Vangelis. He's Perhaps best understood as an Enrique Iglesias with more expensive aftershave and a slightly more elitist image. |
