You can practically hear the love dripping off each cut from SoCal Ska band Hepcat. Not to be confused with punchy, punky Ska of the 3rd Wavers, Hepcat pay homage to the founding fathers with smooth horns, guitars that gently chank alongside piano plinks, and a rhythm section that knows what it is to percolate. So pure in intention, it nearly seems an anomaly in the hybrid-crazy, commerce-minded burg of Los Angeles. |
