Like a breath of intoxicating air, Komeda's music rushes at the listener like the theme song to a Bond film that has yet to be made, sweeping him off his feet with imaginative arrangements and expert songcraft. Their songs are smart, sexy and oh-so-very "now," what with their merge of electronica, lounge, and pure, bubbling pop. One can picture the boys from Air stripped of all slow seriousness, or Stereolab without the drone. The song "Feeling Fine," for instance, bounces along with heavily wah-wahed guitar -- think of your favorite '70s cop show -- a delicious and dreamy melody that glides over the lovely chord changes, and the effortlessly sung vocals delivered with an almost ice-queen quality by the female vocalist. Beware: you may easily get addicted to too much Komeda. |
