Marjorie Fair   Biography
Music by the recording artist Marjorie Fair Like Alice Cooper, Marjorie Fair is a man, baby! But unlike Cooper, Marjorie Fair (who is actually the talented multi-instrumentalist Evan Slamka) plays romantic baroque pop laced with lovelorn lyrics seemingly inspired by Mark Kozelek. After weaving in and out of various East Coast bands, Slamka moved to LA, and scored a record deal with Capitol Records who hooked him up with some of Beck's session players to craft the delightfully lilting Self Help Serenade. With a strong predilection for wrapping love songs inside layers of sonic guitar wash and buttery vocal inflections, this album was obviously meant for one purpose: to woo women.
