Pahinui Brothers   Biography
Sons of illustrious Hawaiian Slack-Key Guitar maestro Gabby Pahinui, these brothers are determined to carry on his legacy without recreating it. Their self-titled 1992 debut, for example, includes covers of Steve Earle and John Lennon (a Reggae reworking of "Jealous Guy"), as well as guest spots by Dwight Yoakam and musical ambassadors Ry Cooder and David Lindley. They put an unlikely twist on blues, country and Hawaiian traditions, all with a characteristically laid-back lope.
