This is my second GEMM catalogue. The first has Promotional, Limited Edition, Out Of Print Imported and other hard to find items like deleted formats(LPs, 8 & 4 Track Tapes, Reel To Reel Tapes, Quad, Mini Disc, Digital Compact Cassettes, 8MM Video, etc). I'm starting this 2nd catalogue to list CDs, videos, & cassettes that are not considered "collectable." The purpose for this page is to provide titles that buyers may want just for their music value, which is after all, what it's all about. So, collectors are welcome, but other people looking for music won't run accross terms like "acetate," "test pressing," "second state," well, there's no end to it.
Although this catalogue doesn't cater to collectors they are certainly welcome. The same care will be taken to insure that items are in top condition. If any item has a known playback problem it won't be listed. All audio and video cassettes are play graded from beginning to end and rejected if there is any problem.
There is rarely a problem with visually clean CDs so they are visually graded. All discs on this page will be scratch/scuff/fingerprint free.
Booklets, inserts and video boxes will be listed as Near Mint if there isn't anything visually detracting from their condition.
VG+ will be used when there is light evidence of handling like a pinch mark or two, very small bend, light corner damage or slight rippling. I won't be listing anything in a condition worse than VG+ in this catalogue.
A note on promos and cut-outs: Sometimes record companies do something to a regular commercially available CD, cassette or video to identify it as a cut-out(deleted title) or promo(radio station, review, or store play).
In the case of cut-outs, this might be a hole in the corner of the jewel box, a notch in the spine or a hole or scratch in the bar code of the packaging.
With this type of PROMO, they do the same kinds of notches, holes & punches as cut-outs and/or put a sticker on an insert or video box cover. These stickers typically have terms like "Not For Sale" or "For Promotional Use Only" or the even stronger "Must be returned on demand of recording company" or "Not to be sold or otherwise transfered."
It's not illegal to sell these items. They send these to people in the record industry(often unsolicited) and they become the property of the recipient. Also promos are frequently donated to charities by the record companies.
The only ways it can be illegal to sell a promo is if it's stolen or copied(Just like any regular CD). The items I sell are not stolen or copied.
Anyway, although some people already know all this or don't care, I know some people don't want their music marked this way so if there are any holes, notches, punches, stickers or stamps on the packaging, it will be mentioned in the description.
I'll probably think of something to add to this as time permits.
