Unfortunately, Clarence Geiger passed away in May of 2007. It was his wish that his record collection be shared with those who would most appreciate it. As such, I, his wife, shall keep his catalog available for purchase. Based on my availability, the timeliness of shipping is different, but the quality of the collection and the service will remain the same.
Clarence's own words about his collection:
"In 1961, I began buying brand new classical LP's and now possess a very substantial collection - far too many unplayed (I have over 1200 listed as new) and mostly analogue stereo. (For me, analogue sound is still superior to digital.) I have always listened to my LP's on state-of-the-art equipment, tracking at less than one gram, and handled and stored them with extreme care. (For the last 40 years, I have had a Technics turntable, a Shure arm and V15-III cartridge, an SAE preamplifier, a Sony power crossover, 3 Sony solid-state amplifiers, and the fantastic JBL Paragon speaker system). Beginning in the 1980's, I have been purchasing used LPs but, with few exceptions, only when the surfaces met the M- standard. My collection also includes cassettes, digital LPs and those convenient CDs.
I now realize that it is no longer possible for me to listen to thousands of hours of classical music. Consequently, I have decided to list all my LPs that are saleable.
With some exceptions, orchestral, concerto, choral, vocal, string, and instrumental entries are listed according to very general musical period categories: Baroque (17th century), Classical (18th Century), Romantic (19th Century), Impressionist, and 20th Century. Since I have a large collection of operas, they are listed separately. Included in the 20th Century are my Lyrita analogue LPs. I believe that I have just about a complete listing of the Lyrita catalog. Most are listed under the composer, a few under the conductor, Boult. Also I have a few multiple items listed under SALE, about $2.00 an LP. Lastly, I completely updated my catalog on May 22, 2007.
I always try to put free extra related LPs, M- or NEW condition, in all orders. In the case of international Air/Letter Post, this is sometimes not possible because of the weight restrictions. The reason for the extras is that I want my collection to end up in the possession of those who will most appreciate it.
If you ever have a any problem with any of my orders, please first contact me at racjg36@columbus.rr.com ( my wife's e-mail address), and I will 'make it right.'
