DARKSHOVELS.GEMM.COM is an extension of my website DARKSHOVELS.COM where I will attempt to sell new & used merchandise of all sorts. Until recently, Darkshovels has been exclusively used as a brand name/money pit where I showcase my own art & music as well as some other things I think are worth mentioning. You can purchase inexpensive digital downloads of several darkshovels audio projects through our darkshovels webstore DARKSHOVELS @ KUNAKI. I've been thinning out my current collection of stuff to make some room at home and figured I'd post it all here and see what happens. I have a very large music collection, with the majority of my buying taking place in the early/mid 1990's. Some of it I only listened to once and shelved it for a decade...some things I purchased and never even played once. I agree; Some of the items are total crap and I don't understand why I bought them either and there are some items that I am hesitant to part with unless the price is right. If you feel my price is too high on anything, feel free to contact me with an offer and I'll consider it. I'm hoping to start carrying a small number of new items from local & unsigned bands very soon, so keep checking back. As a collector, the thrill I get from "hunting" music is as important to me as owning the albums & listening to the music. Only you people who collect music like I do understand what I mean by that. I have been collecting music for over 20 years, and I've picked up plenty of things that I listened to once or twice and shelved...and will probably never listen to again. Maybe I have listed something that YOU have been hunting? A lot of people prefer downloading mp3s to buying records & CDs these days because it's cheap & easy, but it's just not the same. Owning the cover art, having access to the liner notes & lyric sheets, and even getting an occasional whiff of that "old record smell" are all things that digital formats just aren't going to be able to provide. I have a bunch of mp3s as well, but I just don't enjoy them as much as I do with real records, tapes or CDs. Although my main objective in listing this stuff is to make a few bucks, I also want to do my part to remind people just how much fun it can be to hunt and collect music. The internet has made it all too easy these days, and we've all but forgotten the thrill of collecting. There's still a lot of stuff out there in the real world collecting dust in a record bin just waiting for you to find it. Support your local independent retailers whenever possible before shopping online, and if you have to shop somewhere online do it HERE first.
