Not to panic but I've lost my job after 24 years so I can't afford to be sentimental about my records. If you can help out by getting some of these records any bit will be a help! My internet access will be curtailed as I most often used my work computer, so patience is asked for as I'll check at least every other day at the library. I do have some more to add so please check back periodically, thanks and God bless. I am also a collector and there is always an ebb and flow. Now is the time I am going to list most of my collection here for sale. The values are what this Gemm market seems to call for, as listed below if someone else (US) sells the item I am going to charge half that (hence Ken's half price records) but if no one else offers it (which is a large part) I am charging what seems fair for a similar item in rarity and collecting interest. Yes some of these you may be able to find in an auction format, but on many that may be a long wait indeed, so my advice is if you've been looking for an lp title and you see it here better get it. My loss and your gain. Ken 11-1-10 Welcome collector! I am offering these records in the anticipation they will be a blessing to someone. I price them at 1/2 of the cost someone else charges for similar quality on GEMM (US sellers) at the time of adding them to my inventory or a $2 minimum. The only exceptions are Lp's unique to my site or that I believe call for a slightly higher price due to rarity or superb condition. Won't you take a LP or two home today? Have fun that's what collecting is about. I may also be adding some cd's and cassettes for sale. A word about cassettes. They are a disappearing breed and it is harder and harder to find a cassette player. Like a lot of vinyl many of these cassettes will never make it to a CD format. With today's technology now is the time to digitize them and preserve the music. As with all copyright issues I am not here offering legal advice that is for you to research and draw your own conclusions but the consensus seems to be if you own the music you can make a copy for your own use. A good rule of thumb is to exhaustively check the market to see if the item in question is available in CD format or even for purchase as a download, you are under obligation to support the artist. If in the future the music is put on CD you are expected to do away with the copy (the cassette of course remains yours) and support the artist by a purchase of the new. I found a wonderful old cassette deck at a thrift store, it's worth checking out so you can enjoy all forms of music formats. A note about item descriptions. On some I make reference to Ken Scotts' Archivist. This is a very valuable reference listing vintage Vinyl Jesus Music from 1965 to 1980. It covers many genres including Christian Rock, Folk, and others both for groups and individual artists. The focus of the work is to list little known bands and artists sometimes on custom labels who made original music as well as some of the more well known artists and bands. Special recoginition is given to those groups or artists who illustrate especially the development of early christian rock which later morphed into what we know as ccm or contemporary Christian music. This reference can be purchased at lulu.com and I have used info from the 4th edition copyrighted in 2008. The dates I use with a ? after them are gleaned from this resource where Ken Scott has compared label numbers and other factors to make a best date guess. A final note about the pictures, they are the actual item photographed in natural sunlight, unfortunately the resolution used by Gemm for the listing photos is not that great but you should be able to see any blemishes if there are any. Some of my earlier pictures were photographed with artificial lights, you'll be able to tell if they have a pinkish tone. Eventually I hope to replace those. Please use the grading designation for quality decisions and view the picture as a help in seeing flaws or just to enjoy what it looks like or see the cover of an item you've only heard about and never seen. My intention is to enhance your shopping experience (a picture is worth a thousand words). If an item is without picture it will eventually so be patient this is more a labor of love than a business, this is some of the best music you've never heard and deserves to be enjoyed.
Most of what I offer can be widely referred to as Jesus Music falling between the years 1965-1980. After that most music would be considered CCM or contemporary christian music which is usually more church oriented (christians) and less world oriented (trying to reach non christians). As such let me tell you what I mean by the terms I use:
Jesus Music- maybe rock or at least folk rock, or a combo of pop and rock or folk rock and ususlly falling in an earlier time period up to 1976 or so.
Chrisian folk- broadly speaking folk style songs with acoustic guitars, perhaps a bass, and simpler percussion. May be an individual, a trio, or a larger group expression
Catholic folk- differing only from Christian folk as some artists include modernized or hip parts of the liturgy, lots of times you'll find some moody and minor key songs too
Praise or worship- more christian related to encourage praise
Inspirational- uplifting songs with a more orchestrated style and arrangement, no guitar rifts here.
CCM-Contemporary Christian music, more edited and produced sound than early Jesus music, less an emphasis on outreach more to encourage Christian believers, post 1976 or so but a more notable change when you enter the 1980's.
Ok here is the info on books. All of the books I will sell are used, I'll rate them as I see it great or good or fair etc. and note any quality issues I think you should be aware of. MOST of my books are older and have had previous owners and most of them have written their name in them near the front, I won't list this for each book description ok? if yours doesn't have a name it is the rare one. Also most of these have been around a long time and have the usual wear from pulling on and off of bookshelves. Shipping will be the same as lp's and will be safely packaged in a box with delivery confirmation. |
