Man, those remixes are some b*d*ssed mixes. Who knew that the blues can get twisted into some killer dancefloor action? Can't wait to play this out; already played mix 2 on my radioshow. You guys are awesome. 5/5

Definitely a stormer, both versions killers... Dub is great for the floor, afro latin is as good and usable in more chill places...
Will support it a lot and will be in my bow for the next coming months.

hey,
thanks for the chris thomas king-track.
very intersting stuff, we^ve picked the afrolatinblues-
version for our record cases.
/S.U.M.O.
I like both mixes,
don't know which is the favourite as I keep changing my mind. the
radio mix is great as well - if it gets much radio play you're going to
have to press up some 7"s I bet. Andi Chapple Finestyle
This is superdope! Tight beats, nice blues flavour with the Son House
sample!
Both the original Dub and the Afrolatinblues Versions!!
It's by far the most commented AfroArt Records track I've ever played on my
slot! Soul Call and Ashley Slater's Private Sunshine have been on semi-heavy
rotation on our station for a while now - but Revelations has generated the most
broo-ha-ha!
Nice one!

Good solid sounds from Chris Thomas King ^Revelations^, three quality mixes Very inventive.

Raggy :: 'Off Limits' :: SNC magazine
-Having returned from my first visit in N'Orleans since I was a
wee-little po'boy, this "revelation" slips under my feet like a
ceremonial spirit dance. The Afro Latin Blues mix cuts right to the
chase and has the entire office grinning this lovely afternoon. This
and the knowledge that I had a "feeling" about this man in "O Brother"
who sold his soul and then appears in the magnificent "Ray" whose
presence could not be denied on the screen. This is a logical next step
in the forward-looking back over our shoulder step for good music. Keep
digging deep up into the delta friends!

thanx for sending me your new release from Chris Thomas King. I dig this one. It´s sounds cool with this mixture of broken afro beats and blues vocals. I like the beats and the whole "atmosphere" of it. My favourite version is "Revelations/Afrolatinblues".I will use it for my new lime sorbet mix on www.citrona.net which will be online soon. I will send you an email when you can listen to it on this page.
Thanx & Greetz

Can't decide which mix I prefer on the CD. Digging the trippiness of Track
1, will work wonders for clubs. Track 2 will see action at my retail
fashion gigs. I tend to straddle the lines, genre-wise, at my gigs and this
track's refusal to be catagorized is what I look for in tracks.
Keep 'em coming. Again, thanks to AA.
Blessings and happiness to you,

thank you for the cd with Chris Thomas, man. Great stuff. I already put one in the radio show tonight (the radio mix seemed the perfect choice for the show. But I am waiting to try the dub out on the crowd.

CHRIS THOMAS KING "Revelations" (Afro Art)
Afro Art is one of the most musically open-minded and interesting labels in the house scene and everytime I receive a record from them I'm always surprised from both, the high quality and the roots of their tracks. This new record, "Revelations" is by Chris Thomas King, he is a bluesman, a multi Grammy award musician and actor, and in the tracks we can find classic blues elements, including a slide guitar, but on a modern broken-beats groove with some electronic effects. There are 2 mixes on the record, an "Afrolatinblues mix" and a "Dub blues". For open minded people. (Franco Martinelli) http://www.housepage.net/housepage.htm
What can we say - its the distinct Afroart sound!

Revelations
Afro Art Records
Well, this chap is one of the most recognised and successful blues artists
of his generation. Via the internet a connection was made between himself
and head honcho of Afro Art, Paul Murphy. This release is evidence of that
connection with three mixes of the track called ORevelations¹ and the one to
watch out for is the Oafrolatinblues¹ mix which says it all, and will be the
track getting all the plays. Let this pass at your peril ! DJ Pathaan DJ Mag

at storm / utrecht and allbosin/Eindhoven and again in both places the
same reaction...looking forward i would say, that it has more than i
expected at first...it's fresh ..and typically afro-art!

AFRO ART RECORDS CHRIS THOMAS KING ^REVELATIONS^
TRACK 1 :DUB BLUES TRACK 2 AFROLATINBLUES TRACK 3 RADIO MIX
REMIXED BY PAUL MURPHY
Its not often that a small label like Afro Art can say ^We signed a million selling artist!^ but Chris is featured in the Coen Bros movie ^O Brother Where Art Thou?^ as Bluesman Tommy Johnson and as you may know the soundtrack sold bucketloads. He^s also now one of most recognized and successful blues artist of his generation. The multi Grammy award winning musician and actor grew up as a child-prodigy guitarist learning the blues at the feet of some of the music^s masters at the Baton Rouge, Louisiana club Tabby^s Blues Box, owned by his father, Rockin^ Tabby Thomas. If that ain^t all he^s in the Movie ^Ray^ and is currently working with new Hip Hop star Rhymefest (whos about to tour Europe). He & Afro Art got together via the magic of the internet and Afro Art Head Honcho Paul Murphy remixed one of the tracks from Chris^s Album ^Dirty South Hip-Hop Blues^ . The Dub side is a bit dirty too what with all those grimy beats and feedback n stuff, it rocks out the dancefloor. We liked it so much we made it the A side . The Afrolatinblues side does exactly what it says on the tin. Its Afro , its Latin , its Blues, it^s a Revelation! (and Kid Loco & Groove Armada^s Tom Findlay love it..) | |
