| | "Seven Samurai is a wobbly winner^." mr scruff
Paul Murphy releases the second single from his forthcoming album ^The Trip^ and this time moves from 1960^s Soul Jazz to a Rock Steady Broken Beat Filmic Bass driven version of the Theme from the Akira Kurosawa cinema masterpiece ^The Seven Samurai^.
Featuring special guest former Freakpower frontman Ashley Slater on trombone he has turned the tune into a Bass Bin Busting Skanking Monster , heavily influenced by Skatalites legend Don Drummond.
On the other side Paul^s tribute to one of his favourite watering holes, a truly underground bar based in a Metro station in downtown Budapest. A latin jazz extravaganza with some blockbuster percussion and some fine vibes from Roger Beaujolais and basswork from Davide Mantovani and mysterious and moody vocals from top Hungarian recording artists Secta Chameleon you^ll be doing the Magyar Mambo all night long.
Seven samurai is a wobbly winner^. mr scruff

Budapest Chachacha is the one for me, a wicked latin jazz vibe that conjures up imagery of the bar it's dedicated to.

Budapest Chachacha is my favorite and I will chart it as usual!
Kid Loco
Samurai is a real masterpiece, very focused and exciting and budapest chachacha, that's teriffic, like Cal Tjader or Milt Jackson remixing the Cure
Mazilis Retroactive djs Vilnius
Budapest Chachacha^Very cool and delightful bass, vibes, and a smokey vocal reminiscent in places of the wonderful Roy Davies/Peven Everett 'Watch them Come'. The build to the heavy percusssion at the end is hypnotic. John Warr AfroLatina Music
Love that bass! It has filled dancefloors up here in cold Sweden. Magnus Makeba Reach Out! Stockholm

Seven Samurai is a delicious cinematic-broken beat for my ears!!! Budapest Chachacha..........a dark and mysterious nu-mambo! I attend the album!
Simone Vimercati radiopellenera.
Seven Samurai is without doubt a massive roller with some serious bassline pressure. And only the best trombone solo since... well... I can't think of another one to compare it to so ever! The whole thing is pretty naughty it has to be said. I love the cinematic vibe of the Budapest Chachacha - a completely different feel. The percussion breakdown is a bit tasty and as for that double bass! And Roger Beaujolais!

Paul Murphy is the wizard of . . . eclecticism. Long time before everyone talked about mixing different styles and sounds together, the so called eclectic movement. Paul Murphy was one of the first DJ^s who mixed without any boundaries.
On Seven Samurai he mixes the theme from Akira Kurosawa (1954) together with Ashley Slaters (ex Freakpower Frontman) Trombone. I swear when I put it in my CD Player ^Walls came tumbling down^. It´s danceable, inimitable and so cool. But don^t forget to play the B- Side called ^Budapest Chachacha^ this tune is the next pearl which definitely will make people scream! Thanks a lot Paul... don^t stop to surprise us again and again!
